Distant Correlations

Professor Herbut, in close collaboration with professor Milan Vujicic, has been working for decades on this topic. Their main results are:
a) Definition of the concept of distant measurement and investigation of its role in so-called distant correlations (synonyms: quantum nonseparability and quantum nonlocality), [1].
b) Definition of the concept of an Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen state and its detailed study, [2].
c) Clarification of the relation between the Pauli principle and distant correlations in ref. [3].
d) Schrodinger's concept of "steering", i. e., of distant state preparation, was further elaborated [4].
e) It was proved that in all pure states of composite systems distant correlations are due to conditional probabilities [5].
f) The quantum-mechanical techniques developed for distant correlations are summed up (with new and simpler proofs) and applied to developing a general theory of quantum teleportation in preprints [6] and [7]. (Work in collaboration with his students Vlada Bozin, Marina Hruska, and Nikola Paunkovic).
g) It was shown, [8], that the Herbut-Vujicic approach to distant correlations, developed in previous work, can be recognized and is very helpful in gaining insight in an important modern experiment, in that of P.G. Kwiat, A. M. Steinberg and R.Y. Chiao on quantum erasure [9].
